Baseball playoffs underway in Valley

The first two rounds of the Spokane Valley Baseball single-elimination tournament were contested Monday through Thursday.

Championship of the Pee Wee League will be decided Wednesday and Midgets the next night.

The top-five finishers during the regular season were accorded byes into Thursday’s Midget League contests. In the openers Paventy Orthodontics ousted Hu Hot Mongolian Grill 10-6, Jim Frazier’s Trophies and Awards stunned Sodorff and Wilson DDS 15-5 and Evergreen Cosmetic Dentistry beat Autocraft 18-9.

Dana Graphics (9-1) was regular season champion a game ahead of Velis Family Dental Care.

First round of the Pee Wee League reduced the field to eight. Top four regular season finishers, unbeaten Lydig (11-0), Gibson’s Nursery, Tom’s Barber Shop and Hu Hot Mongolian Grill (all 8-3) had byes.

The lone upset was Blasingame Insurance’s 17-15 win over Liberty Lake. Valley Electric eliminated Spokane Athletic Supply 9-7, American On-Site won 14-3 over Leo’s Photography and Regal Satellite topped Elephant Boys 9-6.
