Obituary: Ford, Eva M.

FORD, Eva M. (Age 80) Passed away after a sudden illness on July 23, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

She was the youngest of three children born to I. C. Smith and Kate (Tyner) Smith on May 16, 1933 in Horatio, Arkansas.

On September 21, 1951 Eva married Henry R.C.

Ford of Mena, Arkansas.

After sons Gary and Terry were born, the family packed up and moved to Washington in 1954.

Settling in Otis Orchards they had daughter Cherie a few years later.

The family raised animals and farmed the land to survive.

Eva worked outside the home for many years at Key Tronic, then Johnson Matthey before joining her husband in retirement in the early 1990’s.

They enjoyed camping together and were camp hosts.

She was an avid gardener and took great pride in her beautiful flowers.

She became interested in genealogy and researched her family to the 1700’s.

She also enjoyed quilting and classic cars, and participated in many area parades.

Although a private person, she was always there for her family, friends and neighbors and will be sorely missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Bill Smith (AR) and Jack Smith (ID), and son Gary Ford (WA, 2003).

She is survived by her husband Henry R.C.

(Toby) Ford, son Terry G. Ford (ID) and daughter Cherie L. Murch (WA), grandchildren Katie, Sean, Kristy, Chantele, Kim and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Eva’s life will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Otis Orchards Community Church, located at 23304 E. Wellesley Avenue in Otis Orchards.

This will be followed by a reception in the Church Annex.
