Obituary: Sinclair, Stella Winifred (Age 102)

SINCLAIR, Stella Winifred (Age 102) Passed away on July 21 2013 in Spokane.

She was born to Frank and Hilda Greene on May 5, 1911 in Kahlotus, Washington.

Her father worked as an operator for the SP&S railroad.

From Kahlotus the family was moved to Lamont and finally to Benge in southeastern Washington.

One of the privileges of a railroad career was family passes which afforded many treasured summer trips to visit relatives in Minnesota.

Stella graduated from high school in Benge and then attended Cheney Normal Teacher’s College (now EWSU).

Upon graduation she taught multiple grades in Benge and later in Marshal, Washington.

Stella and Arthur P. Sinclair were married in Spokane on October 12,1940.

During WWII they moved to Washington DC where she worked for the Infantry Journal.

After the war, they returned to Spokane where she worked for the Washington State Employment Agency.

They were founding members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.

Travel was always an interest.

There were many car trips in the western United States and Canada as well as trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Alaska, Hawaii, and northern Europe.

Survivors include son Douglas Sinclair and wife Linda in Alaska, grandson Anthony in Texas, grandson Jonathan and wife Mindi and great-grandchildren Trevor and Ali all in Anchorage, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 1, 2013, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 316 E. 24th Ave. Spokane 99203.

A private family graveside service will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
