Obituary: Wimpy, M. Elaine

WIMPY, M. Elaine (Age 85) Passed away July 18, 2013 in Spokane.

She was born in Spokane, Washington on October 25, 1927 to William Taylor and Mary Jenkins and lived in Spokane her entire life.

She attended Rogers High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Whitworth College.

She married her husband, Harold on August 12, 1950 and together they raised two sons.

She loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing and being at Diamond Lake.

She also enjoyed traveling and took many trips after Harold’s retirement.

She worked for School District 81 and was very community minded being active in the Roger’s reunion groups, the Sandy Hill Garden Club, volunteered at Deaconess Hospital and Fowler Methodist Church.

She enjoyed family, friends and her neighbors.

Elaine described herself as plain and simple, but she was far from that.

She was a kind and genuinely loving person who gave to a number of charities, especially those that helped the children and the elderly.

She was a living example of how a woman, a wife, friend and companion should be.

Her caring and lasting friendships will be remembered by many.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold, and daughter-in-law, Wanda.

She is survived by her brother Hobart Jenkins; her two sons Paul and Tom; three grandkids Jennifer, Jason and Ann, and six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Fowler United Methodists Church, 3928 N. Howard St. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 1 PM with a fellowship afterward.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local charity of their choice.
