Indians complete road trip to Boise with loss

BOISE – The Boise Hawks used a five-run, five-hit sixth inning to put away the Spokane Indians 5-3 in a Northwest League baseball game.

Spokane got off to a fast start Tuesday night, scoring two runs with two outs in the third inning. Gabriel Roa ripped an RBI double to left before being driven in by Marcus Greene’s single to center.

The Indians tacked on another run with Joe Jackson’s RBI single in the sixth.

Spokane starter Alex Gonzalez cruised through four innings of work, allowing three hits while striking out four. He gave way to John Straka in the fifth.

Straka worked through the fifth before giving up a double to Kris Bryant to start the sixth. After a walk and a sacrifice that moved the runners up, the Hawks strung together three straight hits to end Straka’s night with the game tied 3-3.

Abel De Los Santos took over on the mound for the Indians and was able to retire the first batter he faced. He couldn’t get the second. Kevin Encarnacion’s ground-ball single scored two and put the Hawks ahead for good.
