Election red herring

It seems that there is an agenda out there to create opposition to the Clean and Fair Elections Initiative by claiming that it is unclear whether it applies to unions. The implication is that the initiative was not carefully drafted.

The fact is the language of the initiative is clear: If it looks or acts like a corporation under state law, it is covered. The only source of ambiguity is that the proponents of the initiative are not in a position to guarantee that every entity that calls itself a union is incorporated. The ones that we’ve looked up are.

If you have a question about a specific entity, look it up on the secretary of state website. This is a red herring whose goal is to defeat a good law.

Let’s get corporate money out of our elections. Let’s get back to government of the people, by the people and for the people. Let’s do away with government of the corporations, by the corporations and for the corporations.
