MILLER, Marget Ethel (Age 90) Our mother and grandmother, Marget Ethel Miller, passed away on Tuesday, May 21 at the age of 90 years.

Marget was born in Spokane, WA June 14, 1922 to Benjamin and Marget Fisher.

She grew up in Spokane attending Irving and Franklin Elementary; then graduating from Lewis and Clark High School in 1941.

She continued her education at Spokane University, Whitworth University and Spokane Falls Community College.

Marget worked for Simchuks Sporting Goods and The Crescent before going to work for Central Valley School District Food Services and eventually retiring as a supervisor.

Marget spent many years on the slopes of Mt.

Spokane as a prominent slalom skier as a member of the Spokane Ski Club.

Marget remained an active member of the community of Spokane and Spokane Valley late into her life.

Throughout her busy life, Marget enjoyed and revered the company of several close friends.

Marget met her husband of 55 years, James Miller, on a blind date and were married in 1945 after James returned from the Pacific Theater of WWII.

Together they enjoyed many trips to Mexico and Canada and spent countless hours cruising Lake Pend Oreille on their boat.

She and James were avid bowlers and gardeners, possibly cultivating the best raspberries known to mankind.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking and crocheting for her family throughout her years.

Marget loved nurturing her grandchildren and watching them grow.

Marget was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mildred and husband James (1924-2000).

She is survived by her two sons, Matthew (Janice) Miller and Mark Miller (Marsea), and her beloved grandchildren Christopher (Melissa), Megan, Lauren, Simon, Sebastian, and great-grandson Elijah.

Marget also leaves behind many dear cousins and close lifelong friends.

After the death of her husband, she moved her residence to Holman Gardens Retirement Community where she continued her love of travel, music, socializing and community service with the Spokane Rotary Club.

She also traveled solo to Nova Scotia to retrace her family roots, and later visited the Big Island of Hawaii with family.

Last summer, Marget moved into Sunset View Adult Family Home after she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

The family would like to thank the caregivers Amber, Cathy and Karen as well as Gentiva Hospice for making her final days comfortable and peaceful.

Marget led a full and happy life, enhanced by her family and friends who were always foremost in her thoughts.

She will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.

The family will hold a memorial at a later date to honor Marget’s memory and celebrate her life.
