Obituary: Talkington, Donna Rae (Bennett)

Age 75

TALKINGTON, Donna Rae (Bennett) Harrington- Services for Donna Rae (Bennett) Talkington 74, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, with Father Pat MacMahon officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hill Crest Cemetery in Harrington, W A, with a reception to follow at St. Frances Catholic Church.

Donna died on May 28 in Davenport.

Born May 31, 1938, in Reardan, W A to Don and Carol Brink.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, she was adopted by her Aunt Ruth and Uncle Les Bennett, of Davenport, WA, who she would call mom and dad for the rest of her life.

She graduated from Davenport High School in 1956 and was involved in cheerleading, which was her most enjoyable memories of high school.

“Go Gorilla’s!”

After high school she married George Talkington in 1958 and had three children.

They lived in San Diego until George’s discharge from the Navy and moved back to Harrington to start farming.

Divorced in 1979, she went to work at the local cafe as a waitress.

She worked for the next 13 years before she hung up her apron.

Donna enjoyed dancing, singing, and making sure everyone got a hug and a firm hand shake.

She always wanted to make sure she made someone smile every day.

The simple things in life were very important to her - a cloud in the sky, a rainbow, or just the animals in the yard were things she could talk about with much enjoyment.

She loved her family and grandkids more than anything else.

Preceded in death by her parents, Les and Ruth Bennett, son Patrick Talkington, and bother-in-law Jerry Compton.

She leaves behind two sons, Chris (wife Jane, children Leigh and Justyne) of Harrington, WA, and Troy (wife Cathy, children Gunner, Shalene, and Alyssa) of Battle Ground, WA, and sisters Dixie (Gary) Guhlke of Davenport, WA and Ruthie Compton of Spokane, WA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Davenport High School Booster Club, Lincoln County Hospital or a charity of your choice in Donna’s memory.
