Obituary: Stradling, Ryan

STRADLING, Ryan 9/28/93 - 5/25/13 Ryan Thomas-Keith Stradling, 19, a resident of the Banks, Oregon community died Saturday evening, May 25, 2013 at the Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital in Clackamas, Oregon after a seven month battle with brain cancer.

Ryan was born on September 28, 1993 in Hillsboro, OR.

He was the youngest of three sons born to Mark and Regina (Madore) Stradling formerly of Cheney and Spokane, WA.

Ryan attended Banks Elementary through Banks High School, class of 2012.

His love of percussion and music was his number one priority in life.

He enjoyed writing and studying music, which he took very seriously.

He was greatly influenced by Mr. LaGrone, his school band teacher and mentor.

Ryan became an accomplished drummer and was a member of the “New Vintage Trio”, a jazz group Ryan formed with two talented friends.

They performed at several functions including the “Relay for Life” cancer benefit at Valley Catholic High School just last summer.

He attended the EWU Jazz summer workshop in Cheney, and displayed his amazing talents at the final concert held at Showalter auditorium.

He was an avid Oregon Duck and Blazer fan.

He also enjoyed the outdoors, bird watching, jogging, cooking, and hanging out with his family and friends.

His future plans were to attend college and to become a teacher and counselor while continuing his percussion ambitions.

Survivors include his parents Mark Stradling of Hillsboro, OR, Regina Stradling of Banks, OR; two brothers and a sister-in-law; Nicholas and Jessica Stradling of Portland, OR, and Jeffrey Stradling of Hillsboro, OR; his grandmother Esther Stradling of Cheney, WA; his niece and namesake Alexis Ryan Stradling; his aunts Rhonda (Fernando) Stradling Lara of Wenatchee, Dianne (John) Denenny of Cheney, Roxanne (Bud) McCormack of Airway Heights; his uncles Tom Stradling (Elizabeth) of Spokane and Randall Stradling of Seattle; cousins Danielle Harris of Spokane, David and Derek Denenny of Cheney, Seth and Jessica Stradling of Spokane, as well as numerous friends whose support during Ryan’s illness was invaluable.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandfather Dale Stradling of Cheney, and a grandmother Margaret Madore of Spokane.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Banks United Methodist Church, 151 Depot Street in Banks, OR.

A graveside committal service followed at Union Point Cemetery in Banks, OR.
