Dog dies in South Hill fire on Sunday
A dog died of smoke inhalation in a fire Sunday on Spokane’s South Hill.
The fire broke out around 6 p.m. in a home on the 2400 block of East 49th Avenue. The fire appears to have originated in the basement, and was knocked down quickly, a news release from the Spokane Fire Department said.
Some of the resident’s belongings were damaged by smoke and fire. The Red Cross was called in to help the residents with lodging, clothing and food. SpokAnimal was called to assist with the dog’s death.
The Spokane Fire Department’s Special Investigation Unit is investigating the cause.
