Cancer forces Jones to cancel tour, album
Soul singer Sharon Jones has cancer and has canceled plans for an album and tour in 2013.
A Monday news release said Jones has stage-one bile duct cancer and needs immediate surgery.
Jones and her band, the Dap-Kings, had planned to release “Give the People What They Want” on Aug. 6 and were already touring. The singer was forced to miss a few shows recently while looking for a cause of her illness.
The release said that doctors caught the tumor early and that the cancer hasn’t spread. They expect the 57-year-old to make a full recovery.
Jones said she’ll stay in touch with fans and keep them updated on her condition.

The big reveal of the baby’s sex came Sunday night on Kardashian’s E! reality show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
Kardashian said she was excited to be having a girl and added, “Who doesn’t want a girl?” She added that that’s what Kanye wanted as well.
Kardashian is due to give birth to the couple’s first child sometime this summer.
Bedtime tiff with son leads to arrest
Singer-actress Pia Zadora was arrested at her Las Vegas home over the weekend over a rapidly escalating attempt to impose a bedtime on her teenage son.
A police report released Monday says the disturbance began with her attempt to hustle the 16-year-old boy to bed so she could get some rest.
The document says the 61-year-old entertainer turned a watering hose on her son and scratched her husband’s face when he tried to stop her. When her son called 911, she tried to rip the phone from his hands.
Zadora told police she thought he was calling the authorities to avoid his bedtime.
Zadora was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and coercion and released after posting $4,000 bail.
She has been married to Michael Jeffries, her third husband, a Las Vegas police detective, since 2005. The couple met after Zadora contacted police to report a stalking incident.
