A man suspected of killing his girlfriend has been taken into custody, Spokane County Sheriffs deputies say. Authorities have identified the suspect as 27-year-old Jason Hart. Law enforcement officers responded to a home at 14809 W. Autumn Lane earlier today after another man called 911 to report that his roommate had killed a woman, deputies say. Officers found Hart’s girlfriend dead inside a detached garage on the property in Nine Mile Falls, sheriff’s deputies said. The woman’s body was found in a tub containing some type of clear liquid. Sheriffs deputies and the Spokane Police SWAT team responded to the residence and made contact with Hart inside the home. Two other people left the house; Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy Craig Chamberlin said they were not hostages. Deputies said the incident was not a standoff, and that Hart was reportedly asleep until very recently. According to the sheriff, Jason Hart has no local criminal history but has been a complainant in a few domestic violence calls. The house is owned by Jason and Jessica Hart, according to county records. Five SWAT team members were exposed to some sort of vapor and authorities believe the house may be a meth lab. The SWAT team members were taken to a fire station for evaluation. A hazmat team on site is going to be tasked with cleaning up the possible meth lab while not disturbing any evidence from the homicide.
