I-5 detours increases crashes in Mount Vernon

Associated Press
MOUNT VERNON, Wash. — Detoured traffic from the collapsed I-5 Skagit River bridge has led to an increase in crashes in Mount Vernon. KOMO reports there were 75 crashes in the first week after the May 23 bridge collapse and about a third of those involved detoured vehicles. Residents are complaining about the number of semi-trucks crawling through town in close proximity to passenger cars.
