Scandals are infuriating

The recent government scandals should frighten and infuriate you and, if not, you should expand your sources of information.

We are dangerously close to losing the moral foundation of our government. The concept of the separation of powers and checks and balances of our government is being replaced with arrogance, intimidation, deception and abuse of power.

Most of the Internal Revenue Service scrutiny was conducted against people and organizations that were critical of the president and big government. The IRS will be the enforcement agency for Obama health care.

Most of the recent disclosures of dishonesty and incompetence in government are the result of relentless work by conservative media and journalists. I consider The Spokesman-Review publishing policy to be fair.

Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton were both threatened with impeachment for issues less serious than recently disclosed. When Harry Truman – honest, responsible and decisive – was president, he had a sign on his desk: “The buck stops here.” Today, no one admits responsibility for anything. Our nation will not endure if we continue to place people of low character in high positions.
