Moose killed after being injured in accident

A moose was killed by law enforcement officers after being severely injured in a collision with a car early Tuesday morning near the Spokane Valley Mall. The moose — described by wildlife officials as a yearling — was hit by a large sport utility vehicle in the area near Evergreen Road and Indiana Avenue. The driver was not injured. A police officer shot the animal and the meat will be donated to the Union Gospel Mission.
