Obituary: Piper, Yvonne D. (Turner) (Age 93)

PIPER, Yvonne D. (Turner) (Age 93) Yvonne passed away June 7, 2013 at Hospice House of Spokane.

She was born in Spokane, June 28, 1919 and moved to the coast at an early age.

After graduating from Stadium High School in Tacoma she attended the University of Washington.

In 1942 she moved back to Spokane and was employed with the Christian Photography Studio for several years.

After her marriage to C. Sidney Piper in 1944 she was a homemaker and became involved in many community activities which included 43 years in volunteer work at Deaconess Hospital, the Spokane Symphony, Girl Scouts, Parent Teachers Association, Friends of the Library, Spokane Music Allied Festival, Wampum and the Exchangettes.

She was a member of P.E.O.

Chapter R, First Presbyterian Church and the Spokane Club.

Yvonne was a resident of Rockwood Retirement Community for many years.

She and Sid spent many enjoyable summers at their Coeur d’ Alene Lake home and in retirement they enjoyed traveling in the United States, visiting other Countries and boating.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Chapman, son-in-law Patrick Tebo of Hayden Lake, ID, son Jack Piper, daughter-in-law Birdie of Spokane, four grandchildren Michael (Brandie) Chapman, Shelby (Bob) Drummond, Todd (Stephanie) Chapman of Hayden Lake and Spencer Piper of Spokane, six great grandchildren Ryan and Reilley Chapman, Trevor and Delaney Drummond and Sophia and Olivia Chapman.

She is also survived by her brother Richard and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Rockwood South Hill (The Ridge) 2903 E. 25th Ave, Spokane WA.
