SPOKANE COUNTY – The Spokane County Library District is launching its Summer Reading program this week.

The theme for this year’s program is “Dig into Reading” and includes everything from comedy to science.

There are programs and classes for children and adults at all 10 of the district’s libraries, which includes locations in Airway Heights, Deer Park, Otis Orchards and Fairfield.

A complete list of events and activities are available at all library branches and online at www.scld.org.

Signup to help raise funds for Special Olympics

DOWNTOWN SPOKANE – There’s still time to register for the Over the Edge fundraiser for Special Olympics Washington on June 22.

Participants must raise $650 toward Special Olympics; in return they get to rappel from the Bank of America building, the tallest in downtown. Participants must be older than 18 and weigh between 100 and 300 pounds. Register at www.specialolympics washington.org. Non-rappelling donors are welcome, too.
