KYRS Music Fest will harness solar power

There’s a new festival on the horizon.

The nonprofit radio station KYRS (88.1/92.3 FM) is hosting its first KYRS Music Fest on July 13 at Glover Field in Peaceful Valley.

The daylong event will include live music from regional and local bands, food vendors, a Ninkasi beer garden, bike corral, yoga, hula hooping and more.

Oh. And it’ll all be solar-powered.

“We’re very excited that the event is solar-powered and low-impact,” said Nick Rapier, KYRS Music Fest coordinator, in a news release. “A local company, EcoDepot, will be setting up solar pods to power the bands and lights for the day. And the line-up is top-notch. It’s going to be a fun event for the whole family.”

Among the musical performers are Menomena, of Portland, Boise acts Finn Riggins and Jonathan Warren and the Billy Goats, and local bands Old Bear Mountain, BBBBandits, Real Life Rockaz, Soul Proprietor and Cathedral Pearls.

Early bird tickets to this family-friendly festival are $15, available at www.kyrsmusicfest.com. The week of the event, the ticket price goes up to $20.
