Done University of Montana assistant Annette Rocheleau, the longest-tenured assistant in NCAA women’s basketball, is stepping down at the end of June after 32 years on the job. Head coach Robin Selvig says a replacement will not be hired this season due to the timing of her departure.

Hired Manchester City hired Manuel Pellegrini to replace the recently fired Roberto Mancini as the club’s manager.

Named The Western Athletic Conference named Jeff Hurd as its Commissioner, effective immediately. Hurd had served as the league’s interim commissioner since March 2012.

Added Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman has been added to the U.S. roster for Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Honduras at Sandy, Utah. Jermaine Jones missed this week’s win over Panama after sustaining a concussion June 7 at Jamaica. He was replaced in his defensive midfield role by Geoff Cameron. Also, winger Fabian Johnson, will likely be shifted to left back in place of DaMarcus Beasley, suspended from next week’s game due to yellow-card accumulation.

Agreed Detroit forward Drew Miller says he has agreed to a three-year, $4.05 million contract with the Red Wings. Miller had four goals, including two game-winners, and eight points in 44 NHL games this season.

Honored Former Tennessee women’s basketball coach Pat Summitt is the winner of the Keith Jackson Eternal Flame Award, an honor given annually by the College Sports Information Directors of America. The award goes to a person or an organization that has made a lasting contribution to college athletics.

Cancelled The defense of Bernard Hopkins’ IBF light heavyweight title against German boxer Karo Murat has been cancelled because Murat could not get a visa from the State Department. The bout was scheduled for July 13.

Missing Police say an Edmonton Oilers prospect has been reported missing and is feared drowned. Kristians Pelss disappeared Tuesday, and local media reported that the 20-year-old player jumped off a bridge in central Riga (Latvia) into the fast-flowing Daugava River. Pelss played last season with the Oklahoma City Barons of the AHL.
