Shame on Parks Department

Regarding “Heart of the City,” (June 9): Shame on the Spokane Parks Department. If Riverfront Park were a business, the business would have failed due to lack of maintenance years ago. This gem of the city has been ignored and lacked adequate care since Expo ’74.

Shame on the Parks Department. Who doesn’t fix the roof? Who doesn’t fix holes in the side of the building? What overpaid and underworked management is so lazy they ignore these failures? Shame, shame and more shame.

Riverfront Park was and should be our pride and joy. Maintenance is a routine and daily requirement. I speak of this as a former business owner that worked to keep up buildings from the late 1930s to compete in my field. Shame on the Parks Department.
