Knight, Dressel fare well at national track and field meet

Katie Knight, a 2013 graduate of North Central High School, took fourth place in the 2-mile race at the New Balance National track and field meet Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.

Knight, an incoming freshman at the University of Washington, finished in 10 minutes, 19.59 seconds. The winning time was 10:07.35.

Mt. Spokane’s John Dressel took sixth place in the boys 2-mile race. He finished in 9:02.89.


Gonzaga’s Marco Gonzales was named one of three finalists for the College Baseball Hall of Fame’s John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award.

Gonzales was recently selected 19th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft.

The winner will be named on June 29.
