She was born in Spokane on September 1, 1929 to Henry and Crystal Hartmeier.
She grew up on the family farm outside of Fairfield and was a graduate of Fairfield High School, class of 1947.
Barbara attended Washington State College where she earned a Bachelors degree in Home Economics.
She taught home economics at Raymond High School for five years, where she met and married William Browning.
When her father retired, they moved back to the family farm in Fairfield where they farmed until 1984.
Barbara is survived by three sons; David (Leslie) of Mica, WA.
Dan (Terri) of Bend, OR.
and Dean (Kynda) of Fairfield, Wa.
Sister; Lois Caviness.
Four grandchildren; Nathan, Lindsey, Katra and Kolbey.
Three great-granchildren; Magnolia, Liam and Kia.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband William and grandchildren Tanner Shelley and Katie Browning.
Donations can be made to the Fairfield Historical Society or the Liberty Community Education Foundation.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, at the Fairfield Presbyterian Church.
