Obituary: Fuher, Richard

Age 68

FUHER, Richard (Age 68) Former Spokane, WA, resident Richard Fuher, 68, died June 13, 2013, after a gallant struggle with cancer.

His good humor, storytelling and kindness will be missed.

Richard was born to David and Lucille Fuher on May 17, 1945, and raised in Spokane.

In 1968, he met and married the love of his life, Janet Albright.

Married for 45 years, they raised four children and a granddaughter.

After working 18 years for the Air National Guard in Spokane, the family moved to Keizer in 1985 where he and his wife started and ran an insurance agency until retiring.

He was an avid fisherman, he loved to cook, liked keeping busy and was a great handyman.

Richard was gregarious and generous with time and money.

He devoted energy to spoiling his family, meeting new people and loved traveling, especially to his favorite Disney theme park.

A big kid himself, he loved children.

Over the years, he played Santa Claus for the Guard and led his family as a gospel clown.

For years, he was the only ice cream man in the Salem/Keizer area.

Richard is survived by his wife Janet of Keizer; children: Lisa (Bruce) Inman of Hemet, CA, Ron Fuher of Spokane, Cathy (Justin) Carson of Keizer, and Suzanne (Thomas) Fuher of Florida, seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother David.

Graveside service and interment will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Peone Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations for a memorial bench at http://gfwd.at/19Dmihm.
