Questions about bridge

I want to thank you for the coverage of the Skagit River bridge collapse. I have traveled that bridge many times. I had the same questions about the assumption that somehow the truck contact (driver/company) was to blame.

I also wonder why no one is questioning the permit situation. How is it that the truck was given a permit to cross the bridge with loads up to 15 feet tall if the bridge only measures 14 feet, 9 inches?

The Washington Department of Transportation seems to have a lot of answering to do for this discrepancy.
