Small-school all-star game

While the big boys play a night earlier, most of the small-school high school football players wrap up their playing days Saturday when the 2A/1A/B all-star game takes place in Yakima.

Kickoff is at 1 at East Valley High School.

Ten area athletes are scheduled to play in the game. They are: Trevor Cooper (West Valley), Zach Corean (Cheney), Dalton Hansen (Deer Park), Ben Johnstone (Chewelah), John Mellor (Colfax), Jake Morse (Newport), Max Mueller (Tekoa-Oakesdale/Rosalia), Sergio Rodriguez (Deer Park), Derek Smith (Chewelah) and Caleb Wiebe (Chewelah).

Chewelah coaches Jim Fisk and Pat Gaffney are serving as co-head coaches. They’re assisted by Keith Stamps of Deer Park and Zac Farnam of Newport.

Correction

The 4A/3A all-star game is Friday at Moses Lake, beginning at 7. The date of the game was incorrectly published Tuesday.
