Education Notebook: Mt. Spokane ASB leaders clean highway

Mt. Spokane High School 2013-14 ASB officers recently participated in the Adopt-a-Highway program.

The Mt. Spokane High School 2013-14 ASB officers cleaned up recently when they participated in the local Adopt-a-Highway program.

The school’s Associated Student Body adopted a two-mile stretch of the highway in Mead, east of the school on Mt. Spokane Park Drive. The project gives students an opportunity to help keep their community clean.

Area students place at state Math is Cool

Local students showed their math smarts in the Math is Cool State Competition, in Moses Lake on May 18.

Sixth-graders from Libby Elementary School received fourth place; Woodbridge Elementary tied for seventh place; and Logan Elementary was awarded 10th place.

Brenden Archer, a sixth-grader from Woodbridge, placed fourth in his individual competition. Dylan McLaughlin, a sixth-grader from St. George’s School, was awarded fifth place in his individual competition.

St. George’s fifth-grade team was awarded fifth place, and the fifth-graders from Moran Prairie Elementary received 10th place.

St. George’s Sarah Wu was awarded sixth place in her individual competition, and Libby Odyssey’s Helen Gao received seventh place in her individual competition.
