Gerlach’s reaction unjustified

In response to Gene Sivertson’s June 16 letter questioning the charge of manslaughter against Gail Gerlach: He should also be charged with wanton reckless endangerment of the general public. What if one of his bullets went through the walls of someone’s home and took a life or caused serious injury?

If you own a weapon, you should know the law. Deadly force to protect property is illegal. Imminent deadly threat to you or someone else is the only justification for deadly force. If you own a weapon, consider the circumstances where you would use deadly force before it happens.

I feel sad for Gerlach’s family. However, everyone should know this action was irresponsible and against the law.
