Let them eat cake

Your June 16 news article, “Budget slashing hits most vulnerable,” about the effects of the sequester is a vivid reminder of America’s deteriorating quality of life, already lower than the quality of life in most other industrial countries. This is something that should deeply concern all Americans.

It isn’t surprising, though, that concern fades as incomes rise above $100,000. In Congress, the attitude of many is: “Let them eat cake.”
