Announced San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, 77-year-old golf Hall of Famer Gary Player and Olympic volleyball gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings – during and after her pregnancy – will be featured in ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue.” Other athletes photographed include Kaepernick’s 49ers teammate, tight end Vernon Davis; John Wall and Kenneth Faried from the NBA; Matt Harvey and Giancarlo Stanton from Major League Baseball; tennis stars Agnieszka Radwanska and John Isner; and soccer player Sydney Leroux. The fifth annual “Body Issue” hits newsstands July 12.

• The Philadelphia Flyers are buying out the remainder of goalie Ilya Bryzgalov’s contract, saving the team nearly $6 million under the salary cap for each of the next seven years. Bryzgalov was two seasons into a $51 million, nine-year contract he signed in 2011. Bryzgalov was 52-33-10 with a 2.61 goals against average.

Promoted Six days after the College of Southern Idaho announced the hiring of assistant men’s basketball coach Jeremy Cox, he was promoted to head coach. Steve Gosar surprised fans by announcing his retirement Monday. Cox has coached for 22 years, half as an NCAA Division I assistant and eight as a junior college head coach. He won an NJCAA national championship at Arkansas-Fort Smith in 2006. Gosar coached CSI for five years, compiling a 126-42 record and winning an NJCAA national title in 2011.

Cleared Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew will not be charged in connection with an alleged bar fight last month. Jones-Drew had been accused of punching a bouncer at a restaurant/bar in St. Augustine, Fla., over Memorial Day weekend.

Hired Real Madrid has appointed Carlo Ancelotti as its coach after Jose Mourinho’s tumultuous three-season stint. He led Chelsea, the club Mourinho now coaches, to the English Premier League title and FA Cup in 2010, and had his most successful stay at AC Milan, where he coached it to Champions League crowns in 2003 and 2007.
