Obituary: Oscarson, Beverly

OSCARSON, Beverly Beverly Oscarson was born in 1927 in Superior Wisconsin to Adolph and Edith Erickson.

She grew up on a farm near Atkinson, Minnesota, enjoying time with her cousins and riding her horse.

She attended school in Atkinson and Barnum, and was Homecoming Queen her senior year.

Beverly moved to Spokane where she met Ralph Oscarson.

They married in Newport, Washington in 1951, and moved to a small farm in Minnesota a few years later.

There they started a family, having four children-daughter Raleen, and sons Ronald, Ralph, and Bruce.

They returned to Spokane in 1966.

In addition to raising her family, Beverly worked for School District 81, and was active in the church and with organizations such as the Guilds’ School.

Beverly enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, and loved dancing.

After her retirement from work, Beverly and Ralph spent much of their time enjoying and improving a vacation home along the Pend Oreille River near Ione, WA.

Beverly passed away peacefully on June 23, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Raleen.

She is survived by her husband Ralph, sons Ronald (Christina), Ralph (Abbie) and Bruce (Debbie), grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was also blessed with a large number of sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 10:00 AM at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home, 2203 North Division Street in Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Guilds’ School or the Care Center at Riverview Retirement Center.
