Man wanted in Spokane killing arrested in Pierce County

Issiah Schauman
From staff reports
Pierce County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested Issiah L. Schauman, 19, Friday in the shooting death of a Spokane man. Schauman turned himself into the Pierce County Jail in Tacoma on Friday afternoon, according to Washington’s Most Wanted. Spokane County Sheriff’s deputies could not confirm. Schauman allegedly shot 27-year-old Fabian McBride to death outside his home on the 7000 block of North Atlantic Street in North Spokane on June 12. Schauman evaded capture for more than two weeks. Witnesses reported Schauman shot at McBride four times before fleeing. Jenny Ludwig, a manager at the apartments where McBride lived, said Schauman had broken into McBride’s neighbor’s house just a few days before the shooting. McBride was house-sitting for the neighbor. She said Schauman, who was friends with McBride, took a couple flat-screen televisions from the apartment. Schauman returned to the apartments and got into an argument with McBride, she said. Schauman then pulled the gun and shot at McBride, who Ludwig said was like an uncle to the suspect. “He didn’t deserve that,” she said. “It was very traumatic. Ludwig was the first to call 911, she said, and watched McBride take his dying breaths as he lay bleeding in the street. “There wasn’t much I could do,” she said. Schauman is in custody at Pierce County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree murder. Pierce County sheriff’s deputies were unavailable for comment Friday evening.
