Indians drop third straight game

Spokane limited to 3 hits by Everett

EVERETT – The Everett AquaSox scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and made them stand up for a 2-1 victory over the Spokane Indians in Northwest League baseball on Saturday night.

The Indians dropped their third straight game and now occupy last place by themselves in the North Division at 6-10. Everett leads the division at 14-2.

Spokane’s lone run came on catcher Kevin Torres’ homer in the sixth. It was the Indians’ fourth home run of the season. Chris Garia has the other three. Torres had two of the Indians’ three hits with Saquan Johnson getting the other. The team is hitting .196.

Kelvin Vasquez (0-1) took the loss, despite striking out nine batters in 4 2/3 innings. He gave up five hits. Alex De La Cruz struck out three and Michael Zouzalik one in relief as Spokane pitchers finished with 13 strikeouts.

Jose Valdivia (2-0), the third of four AquaSox pitchers, got the win. Starter Andrew Carraway threw four hitless innings, fanning five.

A walk, single and fielder’s choice set up Justin Seager’s infield RBI hit for the game’s first run in the fourth. Everett scored again in the fifth on three consecutive two-out singles, capped by Jack Reinheimer’s RBI hit to center field.
