Issues with Mariners

I have a problem. In fact, I have two problems that have been bothering me for some time.

Mr. Wedge is probably a very intelligent person, but does things I do not fully understand.

One is the situation where he brings in a relief pitcher in the late innings who commences to retire the first two men he faces. Mr. Wedge then brings in another pitcher to pitch the third batter. Why not leave the first pitcher in who handily has retired the first two batters?

He does this constantly and the third pitcher allows the opposing team to score the winning runs.

Another thing is when a player takes two called strikes and whiffs on a third strike in the dirt. It seems so foolish as they get one shot at the ball. I wonder why the team leads the league in strikeouts when they could correct the problem by swinging at a few that they stand at the plate looking at.

Also, It seems that there could be a take-charge person that could bring out a little more hustle.
