Moscow advances to 4A semifinals

Once the Moscow Bears were warmed up they were a force to be dealt with at the Idaho State 4A boys basketball tournament at Borah High School in Boise.

Moscow advanced to the semifinals with a 65-48 victory over Emmett and will play Twin Falls today for a berth in the championship game.

After a tight first quarter, the Bears led 32-22 at halftime and 53-32 through three quarters.

Nick Ellison scored a game-high 23 points for Moscow. Kyle Snyder added 15 and Dane Randall 14.

Timberlake was relegated to the consolation bracket after losing 59-55 to Fruitland in the opening round.

The Tigers led 21-15 after one quarter but were held to 13 points through the next two quarters. Johnny Hadyen led the Tigers with 20 points, Keegan Scott added 15 and Trevor Masterson 10.

Timberlake plays Buhl at 12:15 p.m. at Meridian High School.

Kootenai was fast out of the block, scoring 17 points in the first quarter but the momentum was soon lost on the way to a 50-37 first-round loss to Carey.

Jake Pfeiffer led Kootenai with 17 points.

The Warriors play Sho-Ban at 5:15 p.m. at Caldwell High School.
