No buses, no levy

This letter is in regard to the upcoming Coeur d’Alene school levy.

I understand with recent national events that everyone is concerned about the safety of our children in school. However, the Coeur d’Alene School District is not concerned about the safety of its students getting to the bus stops. They think it is fine for students to walk two miles on country roads without streetlights or sidewalks, which is against Idaho school policy.

When our son bought his home eight years ago, the bus picked up my grandchildren for school each morning and brought them home each afternoon after school. They never would have purchased their home if their children couldn’t catch the bus, as they both work.

The school seems to have a quarter-million dollars to get our students back and forth to athletic events. How about some common sense in our schools for academics? Sorry, Hazel Bauman, but no buses, no levy.
