Obituary: Mcdonald, Juanita

McDONALD, Juanita Juanita passed away on February 26, 2013 at the age of 68 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Juanita was born on September 11, 1944 to Arthur and Mabel Bierig.

She grew up on a farm in Spokane with her seven brothers and sisters.

Juanita graduated from North Central High School in 1962 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Education with an Art major at Eastern Washington University.

Later in life she earned a master’s degree from Whitworth University and was a teacher at both St. John Vianney and Farwell Elementary.

Juanita married Gerald McDonald in 1972 and had two children.

She enjoyed being a stay at home mom and spending weekends at their cabin on Twin Lakes.

Juanita loved sharing her passion for the Arts with family and friends by creating wreaths, making banners for her church at St. Joseph’s Parrish, and volunteering at the Interplayers Theatre and Artfest.

Juanita also had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel.

She traveled throughout the United States, Europe, New Zealand and Belize.

Juanita is survived by her two children, Erin Nosbaum (Matt) and Mark McDonald; her brothers Morris (Mary Jo) Bierig Portland, OR, Rudy (Susan) Bierig, Brian (Fran) Bierig; sisters Nadine (Steve) McKenna, Mavis (Tom) Blair, Nine Mile Falls, and Rosemary (Dick) McDougall.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews along with her two grandchildren Lily and Brady Nosbaum.

Juanita is preceded in death by her parents and her sister Janice Roberts.

Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will truly be missed by all.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
