Take the lead on budget

Sen. Patty Murray, because the Senate has not proposed or passed a budget for three or four years, I think it is about time it does. As the head of the budget committee, I expect you to take the lead.

The president was able to raise taxes just two months ago. It is time for serious spending cuts. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

It is also time for the Senate and president to quit blaming the House for the gridlock in Washington, D.C. Representatives seem to be the only ones willing to work on the problem.

I refuse to believe that any federal agency can’t cut 2.5 percent from its budget this year. I believe it was Sen. Rand Paul that returned tens of thousands of dollars from his budget to the Treasury. If he can, why can’t you, or anyone else? The waste is there, and anyone that wants to can see it. It’s in every office, agency and department.

We need reduced spending at the federal level and the ball is in your court. Please quit playing the blame game and do something.
