(Matney) Our loving mother and grandmother, Carolyn J. Matney Sell suffered a sudden aneurysm and went to be with her Lord on March 3, 2013.
She was born on January 9, 1939 in Colville, WA to Lloyd and Irene Matney.
Our mother was a graduate of Kettle Falls High School and then married our father, Bill Flugel, on March 30, 1957.
They had two children, Carla and Jake.
Carolyn was a bookkeeper for several businesses in the Colville area.
She later completed her four year degree in accounting from Eastern Washington University and became a financial planner and investment manager.
Carolyn remarried in 1975 to Harley Sell and they divorced in 1985.
She then moved to Clarkston, WA to be closer to her grandchildren and worked as a financial investment manager.
Upon retirement, Carolyn relocated to Spokane.
Mother was and independent and self sufficient lady.
She traveled the world, including Europe and published two books in genealogy with the third volume in progress.
Carolyn enjoyed bowling, golf, cards and dancing.
Our mother and grandmother’s life’s passions were genealogy and her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Frank Matney and her sister, Edie Eckman.
Mother is survived by her children, Carla Jensen and husband, Dan, Jake Flugel and Jan, former daughter-in-law, Tami Campbell; grandchildren, Scott Jensen and wife, Amber, Steve Jensen and wife Brenna, Jessica Jensen, Jennifer Jensen, Michael Flugel and wife, Jeannie, Scott Campbell and Ryan Campbell; four great-grandchildren, Hank and Wyatt Jensen, Jackson Flugel and Teagen Campbell.
The funeral service for our mother, Carolyn J. Matney Sell will begin at 11:00 a.m., at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, WA.
The graveside service and vault interment will follow at Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls, WA.
She will be laid to rest beside her parents.
