Obituary: Simmons, James “Jim”

SIMMONS, James “Jim” Entered peacefully into eternal rest on the evening of March 4, 2013 at the age of 82 in Spokane, Washington.

He was a beloved and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather who was born in Hackensack Minnesota.

Jim proudly served our nation in the Korean War.

After being honorable discharged with many awards and acknowledgements he went on to be a logger working along the NW coast.

He later worked as a chef at the finest restaurants in the northwest including the Remmington Restaurant in the Spokane Airport Ramada Inn where he retired in the mid 90’s.

Jim loved the thrill that fishing brought and was often seen proudly displaying catches from recent trips.

He leaves his loving memories to be cherished by his; caring sister, Joyce Kamaus; loving children, James Simmons Jr., Gary Simmons, Roxanne Sims, Judy Stanberry and daughter-in-law Rhonda Simmons; adorning grandchildren, G.J.

Simmons and Brittney Simmons; and his wife Donna Simmons.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Spokane VA Medical Hospice Care Center for their support in his final days.

Jim will be dearly missed, loved by all but never forgotten.

You are invited to attend the memorial service at Heritage Funeral Home (508 N. Government Way Spokane, WA) on Friday, March 8, 2013; at 1:00 p.m. burial will be across the street at Greenwood Memorial Terrace at 2:30 p.m.

The family will receive friends in the Heritage Funeral Chapel following the burial.
