Three Pirates honored

The Whitworth men’s track and field team earned three individual Division III Indoor Track and Field Awards for the West Region, as announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Whitworth’s Carter Comito was named the Division III Men’s Field Athlete of the Year. The senior is third in the nation in the shot put heading into this weekend’s Indoor Championships.

The Pirates’ Toby Schwarz was named Men’s Head Coach of the Year, and Joey Van Hoomissen was named Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year.
