Obituary: Crabtree, Colleen

Age 81

CRABTREE, Colleen Colleen went home to her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

Born October 17, 1931 in McAlester, OK to Bertha and Walter Masters the oldest of five children, she was raised in Gadsden, AZ and graduated from Yuma Union High School in 1949.

She met Gordon Crabtree not long after graduation when he was stationed at the Yuma Proving Grounds and they married on May 19, 1951.

Gordon brought his new wife back to Washington State, initially took up farming with his parents and they made their home in Spangle for over sixty years.

Three daughters arrived to complete their family.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Gordon; one sister, Helen of Surprise, AZ, sister-in-law Sue Decker of Spokane, WA, daughter and son-in-law Robin and Randy Clausen of Tacoma, WA, daughter Rene Sarro of Bothell, WA, daughter Donna Mellick of Spangle, WA, grandchildren Rochelle (Jeff) Forshee, Scott Sarro, Holli Mellick, Ryan Clausen, Stacey Sarro and Chris (Salena) Mellick, great-grandchildren Noah, Naomi and Neriah Forshee, Carson and Oliver Mellick, and, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Harold Masters, Dale Masters and Vicki Cox.

Colleen’s life was richly rewarded and immensely blessed by a wealth of close friends and neighbors in both Spangle and Yuma.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the countless individuals who served and supported her as she dealt with her health conditions over the years.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks and appreciation to the entire staff of the Classy Retreat Adult Family Home in Spokane and, in particular, to Tanya and Brian Bunker, Ashley, Desirae and Susan for their love and special attention and to the staff of Hospice of Spokane.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spangle Community Church, Spangle, WA 99031.

A Memorial Service will be held at Spangle Community Church on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon.

Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
