1. C. Bonnie Franklin, the actress who created an indelible television character playing a divorced, working mother of two headstrong daughters on the long-running series “One Day at a Time,” died at her Los Angeles home. She was 69.

2. B. Gonzaga is the first WCC team to be ranked No. 1 since Bill Cartwright-led San Francisco in the 1976-’77 season.

3. D. A tentative agreement was reached to give back the would-be governor’s residence-turned-money pit that remained vacant even as maintenance costs skyrocketed. Also, Otter prefers to live at his ranch.

4. C. Airline passengers will be able to carry small knives, souvenir baseball bats, golf clubs and some other sports equipment onto planes beginning next month under a policy change announced Tuesday by the head of the Transportation Security Administration. Razor blades still will be prohibited.

5. A. Fire Chief Bobby Williams said he implemented the change, in part, because the city’s trucks likely have more miles on them than at any time in the department’s history. With the increase in medical calls and rising costs of buying new engines, it was time to explore options to slow deterioration of the fleet, he said.
