Saint Mary’s gets past USD for OT victory

LAS VEGAS – Brad Waldow had 23 points and Matthew Dellavedova shook off a shooting slump to hit a game-tying 3-pointer late in regulation as Saint Mary’s defeated San Diego 69-66 in the semifinals of the WCC men’s basketball tournament on Saturday night.

Beau Levesque scored 19 points and Mitchell Young 12 for the second-seeded Gaels (27-5), who will face Gonzaga in the title game.

Young scored four points in overtime to give Saint Mary’s a 69-66 cushion. San Diego’s last gasp came when Dee missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer with eight seconds remaining. The Gaels ran the rest of the time off the clock.

USD finished 16-18.
