Gonzaga’s Olson pitcher of week

 
NIC women head to nationals

 North Idaho earned an at-large selection to the NJCAA Division I women’s basketball championship.  The Cardinals, the No. 12 seed, open play Monday against Williston State College of North Dakota in Salina, Kan.  NIC is one of four at-large teams.

Gonzaga senior Tyler Olson was named West Coast Conference Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Olson (University High) threw a complete-game victory over Hawaii on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits. He lowered his ERA to a team-best 1.84 in his second complete game of the season.

Olson also won the honor March 5, 2012.

The Bulldogs’ Marco Gonzales was recognized with the award the previous week.

Track and field

Idaho’s Hannah Kiser was named a second-team All-American by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Kiser, a first-team selection last season, placed fifth in the 3,000 meters Saturday at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
