Splitter leads Spurs past Thunder

NBA: Tiago Splitter had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the San Antonio Spurs snapped the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder’s five-game winning streak with a 105-93 victory on Monday night.

Kawhi Leonard scored 17 points, Danny Green had 16 and Tim Duncan finished with 13 for San Antonio.

Kevin Durant had 26 points and Russell Westbrook added 25 for Oklahoma City, which lost its sixth straight in San Antonio. Serge Ibaka was the only other player in double figures for the Thunder, adding 13 points and 16 rebounds.

• Koufos-led Nuggets beat Suns: Kosta Koufos scored a career high 22 points on 10-of-11 shooting, mostly from point-blank range, and the visiting Denver Nuggets ran their winning streak to nine games with a 108-93 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Corey Brewer added 20 points and Ty Lawson 19 as the Nuggets matched their longest winning streak of the season.

• 76ers top Nets: Spencer Hawes had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Jrue Holiday added 15 points and 11 assists and the Philadelphia 76ers beat the visiting Brooklyn Nets 106-97.

Thaddeus Young had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Krejci, Bruins edge Senators in shootout

NHL: David Krejci scored the shootout winner and had an assist in regulation as the visiting Boston Bruins defeated the Ottawa Senators 3-2.

Tuuka Rask made 30 saves in regulation and stopped three of four Senators in the shootout.

Shawn Thornton and Daniel Paille scored for Boston, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit to win its 10th straight in Ottawa.

• Brown leads surging Kings past Calgary: Captain Dustin Brown scored two goals, Jonathan Quick made 23 saves and surging Los Angeles beat the visiting Calgary Flames 3-1, the Kings’ 11th win in 14 games.

Brown and Jarret Stoll scored first-period goals before Brown added an empty-netter for the Kings.

Baylor beats Iowa State for Big 12 title

Women’s College Basketball: Brittney Griner scored 31 points and top-ranked Baylor won its third straight Big 12 tournament championship, rolling past No. 23 Iowa State 75-47 in Dallas.

Griner, already a two-time All-American, had 23 points by halftime, outscoring Iowa State by 10 on her own.

• Notre Dame advances past Big East semis: Kayla McBride scored 17 points and Skylar Diggins added 14 to help No. 2 Notre Dame beat 16th-ranked Louisville 83-59 in the semifinals of the Big East tournament in Hartford, Conn.

• UConn in Big East title game: Breanna Stewart and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis each scored 14 points and No. 3 Connecticut beat 22nd-ranked Syracuse 64-51 in a Big East tournament semifinal in Hartford, Conn.

Davidson defends SoCon championship

Men’s College Basketball: De’Mon Brooks had 24 points and eight rebounds, and the Davidson Wildcats defended their Southern Conference championship with a wire-to-wire, 74-55 victory over the College of Charleston in Asheville, N.C.

• Western Kentucky beats FIU in Sun Belt final: George Fant had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Western Kentucky earned its second straight NCAA tournament berth with a 65-63 win over Florida International in the Sun Belt Conference championship game in Hot Springs, Ark.

• Iona beats Manhattan to win MAAC: Tre Bowman scored 20 points and Iona earned a berth in the NCAA tournament with a 60-57 win over rival Manhattan in the MAAC championship game in Springfield, Mass.

Goodell hopes for sensors in helmets

Miscellany: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell imagines a day when football players could be checked to determine whether their genetic makeup makes them more likely to develop brain disease.

He also envisions players being required to wear helmets containing sensors to detect hits that cause concussions. He said they might be lighter and “less of a weapon” than today’s.

• Federer easily advances at Indian Wells: Defending champion Roger Federer beat Ivan Dodig of Croatia 6-3, 6-1 in the third round at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif.

• Martins says he’s heading for Seattle: Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins said on Twitter he is leaving Spanish club Levante to join the Seattle Sounders.

Martins wrote that signing with Seattle is “a big step to take in my career.”

• U.S. ties Sweden at Algarve Cup: Facing former coach Pia Sundhage for the first time, the United States came from behind to tie Sweden 1-1 on Alex Morgan’s 56th-minute goal and advance to the Algarve Cup soccer final.

The US will play Germany in Wednesday’s title game.
