Obituary: Agar, Shirley Reynolds

Age 86

AGAR, Shirley Reynolds 86 Years of Life Shirley Ray Agar (Viles) 86, passed away at her home in Colville, WA on January 27, 2013.

She is survived by her four children Debbie Egger (Max) of Colville, WA, Bruce Agar (Mary) of Thermopolis, WY, Matt Agar (Debbie) of Ontario, OR, and Muriel Badgley of Spokane, WA.

Shirley has 13 grandchildren, 17+ great-grandchildren, a sister, Nancy Sanders, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley was the third of four children born to Fred and Muriel Viles on April 4, 1926, in Great Falls, Montana.

In 1949 she married Roy Agar and settled down to farming and ranching in Williams Valley area just outside of Deer Park, WA.

Shirley worked hard on the ranch, driving tractor, baling hay, feeding the crew and raising four children.

In her spare time, she belonged to various community organizations, but her true passion was singing.

Shirley sang for her local church including weddings and funerals.

In 1978, Shirley and Roy sold the ranch in Williams Valley and moved to Huntington, Oregon, where they purchased a ranch.

Shirley worked side by side with her husband, Roy, and her sons building Durbin Creek Ranch.

In 1996, Shirley and Roy retired and moved to Colville, WA to be closer to their daughters Debbie Egger and Muriel Badgley.

Shirely is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Roy, her sister, Marcella Grady, her brother, Gordon Viles, and one great-grandchild Peyton Joy Egger.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Her beautiful voice and zest for life will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by everyone she touched.

Shirley’s legacy will live on in her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service honoring Shirley will be at the church she dearly loved, the Open Door Congregational Church in Deer Park at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 16, 2013, with Rev.

Dr. Daniel N. Berg officiating, followed with a reception for all family and friends at the Deer Park Golf Course Pro-Shop Lounge.

In lieu of flowers, Shirley’s family suggests memorial donations to the Open Door Congregational Church, P.O.

Box 1509, Deer Park, WA 99006-1509, in Shirely’s name.
