Obituary: Franks, Louis

Age 91

FRANKS, Louis August 31, 1921 On March 9, 2013, Louis Franks, 91, of Spokane, WA went home to be with the Lord.

He was the son of Joseph and Maria Franks, the youngest of 8 children, Joseph, Mary, Anthony, Rose, Sunday, Charles, and Jimmy; all predeceased.

Louis graduated from North Central High School in 1941 and went on to attend Kinman Business University where he studied Business Law.

He was employed by the Corps of Engineers at Geiger field until September 1942 when he reported for duty in the Army Air Corps.

He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII from 1942 to 1946, stationed in England and France.

He was honorably discharged as Technical Sergeant, 665th Air Material Squadron, Chief Clerk in February, 1946.

In 1948, Louis married his beloved Vita May Hess and enjoyed 45 years of marriage until Vita was called to be with the Lord in 1993.

Louis and Vita did not have any children but shared their love with many nieces and nephews.

We love you, Uncle Louie, and will miss you.

Louis retired in 1979 after 32 years of employment with the United States Postal Service.He founded the local chapter of NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and was an active member of the APWU (America Postal Workers Union).

Louis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 14th at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

Recitation of the Rosary will take place at Thornhill at 7pm the same evening.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 15th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

Interment with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
