Obituary: Schafer, Imogene Kuest

SCHAFER, Imogene Kuest 9/6/24 - 3/3/13 Imogene was born in Odessa WA to Herb and Emma (Dormaier) Kuest on September 6, 1924.

Surviving are her children, Sandy (Jack) McBride, Colfax WA; Cathy (Jeff) Kimble, Spokane Valley; and Steven Schafer, Missoula MT.

; 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and sister Darlene Streeter plus several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister June Weber, husband Robert Schafer and infant son, Brian Schafer.

She graduated from Odessa HS and shortly thereafter married Robert Schafer on July 25, 1942.

They spent some time in Puyallup WA where Dad worked at the shipyards, then returned to Odessa and began their family in 1945.

In 1957, they moved to Spokane where Dad worked as a mechanic for Mom’s cousin and Mom found work at the Crescent Dept Store.

She later was employed by Rusan’s (women’s apparel) - she enjoyed doing sales work.

They returned to Odessa in 1966 to the family farm where they remained until retiring (Dad from farming and Mom from the local Post Office).

They then moved into town.

Mom enjoyed bowling and golfing, and also sang in the church choir.

Mom moved to Spokane after Dad died in 2006 residing at Waterford Assisted Care - she became quite fond of the people there.

November 2012, she moved to Pine Ridge Memory Care facility.

Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 2:00PM at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Spokane Valley, WA.

Memorial donations may be made to Heritage Church, Odessa WA or Hospice of Spokane.
