Obituary: Johnson, Hellen Zeltha

Age 88

JOHNSON, Hellen Zeltha (Age 87) Of Newman Lake, WA passed away on March 12, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

She was born on March 14, 1925 in Kirby, Arkansas to the late Enoch S. and Mabel (Pucket) Hilburn.

Hellen grew up in Oklahoma and was a member of the Choctaw Indian Tribe.

She married Edward M. Luce on January 6, 1944 in Tulsa, OK. Edward was killed in action (France, WWII) on June 19, 1944.

She worked for a short time at the Spartan Aircraft Company during WWII.

She was employed as a sheet metal worker.

She married Ralph P. Johnson on March 9, 1946 in Coeur d’Alene, ID, and moved with him to Bremerton, WA.

She later relocated to Hillyard, WA before settling down in Newman Lake, WA in 1953, where she lived until her death.

She attended the Otis Orchards Community Church.

Hellen is survived by her two daughters, Claudia (Steve) Calistro of Cusick, WA and Linda (Steve) Stitt of Newman Lake, WA; grandchildren: Gary Calistro of Houser, ID; James Calistro of Newman Lake, WA; Samuel Stitt of Seattle, WA; Trudi (Stitt) Dip of Long Beach, CA; great-grandchildren: Marissa Morris, Camilla Calistro, Sequoyah and Aiyanna Stitt, and Miranda and Hadassah Dip.

Hellen is also survived by her sister, Cleo Meyer, of Oklahoma.

Hellen was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, son, Gary P. Johnson, and brother, Bud Hilburn.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 10am to 5pm at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 9am at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery, 211 N. Government Way, Spokane, WA.

A Memorial Service will take place at Otis Orchards Community Church, 23304 E. Wellesley, Otis Orchards, WA on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2pm.
