Obituary: Veljic, Thomas
He was living most recently in Arizona, but lived in Spokane for many years.
Tom was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and landed in Spokane via the USAF.
He was trained as a radiology technician in the Air Force, and worked in Spokane area hospitals after discharge.
He later graduated from EWU with a degree in urban planning and worked for Spokane County and the Boundary Review Board.
He also worked in Arizona as an urban planner.
Tom also worked in several bicycle shops in between urban planning jobs, to support his cycling passion.
Tom was a unique individual - who could ever forget his distinctive voice, and great, goofy sense of humor!
He was a kind, friendly, loving person with many friends scattered across the country.
Among his several passions in life were bicycling and music.
While living in Spokane, he renewed his childhood interest in the violin, and became an active member of the fiddling and bluegrass music community.
He attended the Northwest Fiddling Championship several years in Weiser, Idaho.
As a bicycling “ambassador” he connected with many cycling enthusiasts throughout Spokane and beyond.
There was never a bad day, on a bicycyle for Tom.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Stanimir and Grete Veljic.
He is survived by his sister, Maggie in Arizona, and other siblings and extended family.
Come celebrate Tom’s life this Sunday, March 17th at 3:00pm at No-Li Brewhouse, 1003 E. Trent.
